We
have been a family farm for 50 years.
Melvin and Rosemary Allen (Dan’s parents) bought this 19 acre farm in
1957. The family developed strong work
ethics raising cows, pigs and chicken through out the years. There was great pride taken in farming the
land.
In
1972 Dan and Kathy were married. Both of us love the rural farm life. We raised
and taught our children the same basic ethics of life. (Sarah, Chad and Brenda) They now have families of their own.
After
mom and dad Allen could no longer care for the farm, we purchased it in
1999. Since then, we spend more time
outdoors than indoors. Over these past
few years we have contemplated on how to best use the land. In 2006, the light bulb came on and we
decided to grow asparagus. In 2007,
planting of asparagus began, with the Spring
of 2009 being our first year of harvest.
The
future is ours to mold.
